MGV Walhalla zum Seidlwirt

“The artistic and musical spectrum of MGV Walhalla zum Seidlwirt ranges from exuberant to deadly serious.” Theodora Mavropulous, rbb info-radio

Whether it be a classical, small or even pop environment? MGV Walhalla zum Seidlwirt fits any venue.

The international vocal group (e.g. Turkey, Israel, Austria, England, Germany) was founded by students from the music university ‘Hanns Eisler’ in Berlin.

MGV Walhalla zum Seidlwirt upgrades the genre “MännerGesangsVerein” for the 21st century. The core characteristics of an MGV – the fun of making music together, exuberance and authenticity – have remained. They have added classical vocal harmony, artistic integrity and a splash of self-irony. This gives MGV Walhalla zum Seidlwirt a unique lightness and openness beyond traditional dogmas. Their repertoire spans a wide range and through their wider experience as opera singers, they are able to combine the typical male voice repertoire (classical) with their own arrangements of Opera/operetta, Art song, chanson and barbershop.

A very special focus of their repertoire is the interpretation of folk songs from all over the world – this time without any irony.

MGV Walhalla zum Seidlwirt perform regularly on renowned stages and festivals in Germany and abroad, including the Mecklenburg-Vorpommern Festival, Brucknerhaus Linz, Les Dominicains, Grafenegg Festival, and the Sziget Festival in Budapest.

Chamber music partners have so far included the Vienna Horn Ensemble, the pianist Eric Schneider and the cellist Elia Cohen-Weissert.
